From the 4th floor of Cricoteka in Podgórze, you can enjoy one of the most stunning views of Kraków. Floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows open up a perspective you will not find in any other café with a view in the city. Just below the café windows flows the Vistula — a broad ribbon of river that changes colour with the time of day and the season. To the left you can see the Bernatka Footbridge — a pedestrian bridge connecting Podgórze with Kazimierz, one of the most colourful districts in Kraków. In the evening the bridge is softly illuminated, creating a romantic scene perfect for watching with a cup of specialty coffee in hand.
Further north, above the rooftops of Kazimierz and the Old Town, on clear days the silhouette of Wawel — the Royal Castle — emerges, a landmark that has dominated the Kraków skyline for centuries. It is a view that unites history with modernity — from Renaissance towers to the bold form of Cricoteka itself, a prime example of contemporary architecture.
The Cricoteka building — the Centre for the Documentation of the Art of Tadeusz Kantor — deserves attention in its own right. Its distinctive architectural form references a drawing by Kantor and the concept of emballage. The modern "table" structure suspended above the historic power station creates a remarkable contrast, best appreciated from inside the café.
One of the greatest assets of Ambalaż Café are the sunsets. When the evening light reflects off the surface of the Vistula and paints the sky above Kraków in shades of gold, orange and violet, the café transforms into a natural observation point. It is the time when guests most often reach for their phones and cameras — though no photograph can fully capture what you see in person.
